Gerry
Davidson
Gerry Davidson is an environmental artist
who has lived in east Toronto since 1996. Previous lives
have included work and life experiences of a Forestry
Technician, Soldier/UN Peacekeeper in Southwest Africa
and Namibia, clown and busker, Federal Government Clerk
and virtually everything in between. Early creative
works involved woodcarving and sewings.
In 2001, Gerry travelled to a place called Taloyaok,
on the Boothia Peninsula, in Nunavut. Gerry's experiences
included being adopted by an Inuit family, fishing,
hunting, meeting the "sewing ladies" at Taluq
Design and even recycling a piece from a crashed aircraft.
This aircraft door will be the cover for a mixed media/photographic
piece called "Nunavut Album 2001."
In the Broken Fence Society's first Annual Juried Environmental
Art Show, Gerry's ceiling installation received an Honourable
Mention from the jury. Gerry is also the main "art
roadie" for the art shows The Broken Fence Society
presents throughout the year.
