Charles Taylor

Charles Taylor was born in Saskatchewan where he spent his formative years. In 1982, he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English Literature and minoring in Fine Arts. He has lived in Toronto since 1987.

Art has always been an important part in the artist's life, both as a way of personal expression and as an educational tool. Taylor often chooses themes that have social messages such as the persecution of women, religious and political oppression, and especially, man's mistreatment of the environment.

Charles uses a variety of media to produce his work, which falls into a number of different genres including: abstraction, surrealism, expressionism, and realism. Collage plays an important part in how he constructs his work. Natural elements such as leaves, twigs and bark in collage creations commonly make references to the environment in various ways, including environmental didacticism.
